Blog # 4 – Listening Sessions

Dear Church,

Over the next couple of Sundays (July 21st and July 28th), members of the PSC will be attending Life Groups to conduct “Listening Sessions”. The PSC has developed a list of questions that will be asked and the discussion prompted by those questions (along with the results of the Congregational Survey) will be used to further refine the pastor profile being developed. Conducting these sessions are yet another step in completing the process of identifying the man God has decided will be our next pastor. We trust that God will reveal clear direction on behalf of the congregation and these listening sessions give the congregation a voice in that process. Everything the PSC does is through systems and processes, trusting the Lord to work in and through those systems and processes. All of our tools, such as the congregational survey and now the listening sessions, help us to develop a framework. The Lord is free to work within that framework or to work outside of it. There is no guarantee that God’s man will fit any of our expectations, but we don’t want to walk into the process with no expectations at all. We look forward to hearing from the congregation over the next couple of weeks. Additionally, we ask everyone to continue to pray daily about this process, for the man God has already chosen to be our next pastor, and that we as a congregation are prepared for God’s man.

In Him,
